The challenge for any video games publisher is to provide a voracious press with a constantly updated supply of PR information and digital assets such as screenshots, videos and artwork during a game's development lifetime. Especially since new material is released progressively as the game develops. This process is made all the more challenging when you factor in the fact that some material will be embargoed until certain street dates, and that different media will require access at different times in order to honour these embargoes.
The simple act of supplying these assets on CD, as was the traditional practice, could fill the working days of several PR operatives in each territory.
As a growing publisher THQ wanted to manage this resource demand, and free up their PR staff to undertake the more creative and productive work of optimising press coverage.
eleventeenth worked with THQ to revolutionise the PR and marketing process by developing one of the first and most powerful electronic press centres.
The system differs greatly from other similar systems by having advanced user permissions and access scheduling. The inclusion of these features mean that exclusive access could be granted to assets, and then subsequently access could be cascaded down the priority hierarchy, so that more important users get access first.
Items can also be embargoed, so that assets can be uploaded before an event or show, and set to appear on the press centre at a predetermined time.
The site also provides THQ with detailed download reports, so they can see who has accessed given assets, and follow up to maximise the value of the coverage received.
