ELSPA is the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers' Association - the trade body of the video games industry in the United Kingdom. It was established in 1989 to establish a specific and collective identity for the British computer and video game industry.

Since then, the membership has steadily grown from 12 to nearly 70 companies, including almost all the major companies concerned with the publishing and distribution of interactive leisure and entertainment software in the UK. ELSPA works to protect, promote and provide for the interests of all its members, as well as addressing issues that affect the industry as a whole.

ELSPA's requirement

As the trade body of a major creative industry ELSPA needs to stay in touch with its members. It also needs to inform and educate the public about issues such as Age Ratings and Piracy. It needed an attractive and extensive website to enable it to achieve this.

ELSPA issues press releases frequently, and arranges or publicises industry events and conferences. ELSPA also publishes a number of industry charts. So its site needed to be updateable with information relating to these activities.

ELSPA has a suite of offices at its Soho headquarters that are available for hire. So, it wanted its website to have a booking system to enable interested parties to see availability and to make bookings.

Another of ELSPA's activities is to produce a subscription-based series of electronic reports for the industry. In 2004, it asked eleventeenth to create a system for protecting these reports from unauthorised access after its existing service provider drastically changed its revenue model.


eleventeenth's Solution

In 2002, eleventeenth designed the ELSPA logo, and built a website that reflected its bright, primary colour scheme. We deployed the site on an early version of Content DLM, our content management system.

During 2004, we developed a rights management system for the ELSPA industry reports. This comprised a server that enabled ELSPA staff to issue a time limited or perpetual license to a subscriber or group of subscribers, and to make the reports available to them for download.

In 2006, we updated the version of Content DLM underlying the website to give ELSPA more control over updating their content, and to make updating complex sections, such as the games charts, even easier by integrating a data importer.
